Nashville

"Hot" Nashville

They call Nashville the Music City, but there’s so much more to Nashville than country music. It’s one of the hottest culinary destinations of the moment with a slew of bright, young chefs turning out fresh takes on regional classics. There’s the signature “hot chicken” — you’ll learn how to make it in a class taught by Hattie B’s Chef John Lasater, and enjoy wood-smoked barbecue brisket at Butchertown Hall. You’ll taste southern delights on a walking tour of historic Germantown section of Nashville.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive in Nashville and check-in to the Renaissance Nashville Hotel, situated downtown and is walking distance to Music City Center, B.B. King's Blues Club, Country Music Hall of Fame, Ryman Auditorium and the Honky Tonks.
Day 1
Afternoon visit to Nelson's Green Brier Distillery in Germantown. Charlie and Andy Nelson (philosophy majors in college) discovered it was their destiny to bring their family whiskey business back to life. Out of hundreds of whiskey distilleries in 1885, the three most notable were Cascade (now George Dickel), Jack Daniel's, and Charles Nelson's Green Brier Distillery. But Prohibition put an end to that.
Day 1
Now after three years of research, planning and hard work, Charlie and Andy resurrected Nelson's Green Brier Whiskey and are now producing top-quality product. Enjoy a private tour and tasting. A short walk takes you to Butchertown Hall and a welcome 3-course dinner, including BBQ brisket paired with craft beers.
Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your guide for a Walking & Tasting Tour where you’ll sample Southern goodies. You’ll stroll and nibble your way through historic Germantown with stops at Cochon Butcher and Tempered Chocolate for a sweet finish. Then you’ll get some history walking through the Bicentennial Capitol Mall Park, which is an outdoor museum of history, geography and civics. Make your own way back to the hotel.
Day 2
This afternoon transfer to RCA Studio B for your private tour. Starting in 1956 and into the early 60's when the Nashville Sound was being born, Elvis was recording songs like "Little Sister," "Are You Lonesome Tonight", and over 250 others. Afterwards the bus will take you to the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum. Tickets to the Opry Country Classic Show at the Ryman Auditorium Downtown.
Day 3
Walk 10 minutes to the Goo Goo Cluster shop. In 1912, Goo Goo Cluster altered what was possible in the world of candy, by combining more than one element. You learn how to make a Premium Goo Goo, made with dark chocolate (instead of milk as in the original clusters), caramel, peanuts and marshmallow nougat.
Day 3
This afternoon, you will be transferred to Belle Meade Plantation. Your tour will be led by a guide through the plantation's beautiful Greek-Revival mansion commissioned by John Harding in 1845. Your ticket also includes access to Belle Meade's many other historic buildings on the plantation grounds including a dairy, horse stable, carriage house, mausoleum, gardens, and a log cabin. After you've completed your tour of the house and grounds, a wine tasting at the winery awaits.
Day 3
Hot Chicken is about as southern as it gets! You'll have a private hot chicken cooking class with Hattie B's Hot Chicken Executive Chef John Lasater. A Tennessee native, Lasater graduated from the French Culinary Institute in New York and worked at Capitol Grille in the Hermitage Hotel, before joining the team at Hattie B's in 2012. Dinner follows.
Day 4
Breakfast at the hotel. At leisure until your departure.
