Culinary Treasures of Portugal
with Chef Anita Lo
October 14–20, 2025

Introduction

Travel allows you to “expand your palate,” writes Chef Anita Lo in Cooking Without Borders. She should know: she leads our custom 8 day culinary adventure to sunny Portugal. The trip starts in Lisbon, Europe’s second-oldest capital and a city that tantalizes the senses with its Moorish architecture. We’ll visit the market in Setúbal, and enjoy a magnificent fish lunch in Sesimbra.

East of Lisbon, in the Alentejo region, we’ll experience cheese making, carving presunto (dry-cured ham), and biodynamic winemaking, as well as a hands-on cooking class with Chef Anita Lo using locally sourced ingredients.  We’ll stay at São Lourenço do Barrocal, an ancient farming village, which has been brought carefully back to life as a remarkable hotel of understated luxury, surrounded by ancient holm oaks, olive groves and vineyards.
