Where Will You Wine & Dine This Year?

We invite you to take roads less traveled to some delicious destinations: Burgos, Istanbul and Sonoma.

Burgos Morcilla (blood sausage)

Burgos, Spain

A culinary pilgrimage. Burgos, in the northern region of Castile-León, has just been named Spain's gastronomic capital for 2013. Its spired Gothic Cathedral (a World Heritage site) used to be the town's only compelling attraction, but now it is the food - and the wine. A new generation of talented chefs have created a culinary dining scene that showcases a wealth of local products. Dine on suckling lamb baked in a wood-fired oven, soused trout and cod stew. Our recommendation? Blood sausages with roasted peppers and grilled lechazo, or baby lamb at El 24 de la Paloma which pair wonderfully with the powerful reds of nearby Ribera del Duero. And for dessert, the delicious yemas (a sweet made with egg yolks and sugar), fresh cheese with honey and walnuts. Well preserved vestiges of Burgo's medieval splendor blend beautifully with contemporary cultural centers and boutique hotels. This will be a collectible travel experience. Priced from $1,200 per person. Take a peek.

Istanbul baklava

Istanbul - and Beyond

We are pleased to present a delicious 10 day tour of Turkey created by our Turkish culinary associate and native Istanbulite Selin Rozanes. What's on the menu? Exotic Istanbul straddling Europe and Asia, mystical Cappadocia, ancient Ephesus, the port city of Bodrum with stops at farms, vineyards and old-world villages along the way. The itinerary must-see iconic sites. Visits to Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, Ephesus' archeological wonders and the exploration of the conical caves and fairy chimneys of Cappadocia are all in the mix.

  • Special visits to the Spice Bazaar and the colorful market of Kadiköy
  • Cooking lessons: with Selin, in her lovely home, followed by dinner; with local woman in a Cappadocian village, a workshop on Aegean-style foods and learning how to make Turkish Delight
  • Market visits, organic farms, vineyards - tastings of local wines - and learning the history of olive oil
  • A unique culinary experience in the small sea-front town of Tuzla; learn about old world fishing and how to tenderize the octopus by pounding it against the rocks. Now it's ready for your salad!
... and wonderful, wonderful food shared with your fellow culinary adventurers in special venues.

Two dates offered in 2013: April 21-30 and October 20-29. The groups will be intimately sized with a maximum of twelve participants. Cost (land only) $3,585 per person based on double occupancy. The single supplement is $723.00. This itinerary can be customized for small groups on additional dates - upon request. Call us for further details: 888 345 3005.
